South Congress or SoCo is a neighborhood located in Austin, Texas. This area of Austin is known to be a shopping, cultural and foodie district famous for its many diverse shops, restaurants, music art venues and street merchants.
South Congress begins on the south banks of Ladybird Lake over the what used to be known as the Congress Street bridge and is now named the Ann W. Richards it runs south to Highway 71 or as we call it “Ben White”.
This area of Austin is over 160 years old, South Congress Avenue has become a mecca for the weird, what was once a rural country road to the gateway Capitol to Texas and is a vivacious eating, staying, walking and shopping locale.
